Working together to enrich our education
in wildlife ecology while fostering stewardship
of the land and its resources

Mission Statement:
The mission of the University of Wisconsin-Madison Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society is to help wildlife ecology majors learn field techniques, develop leadership skills, make contacts with wildlife ecology professionals, and keep up to date with environmental legislation, while working with fellow students and professors at the University of Wisconsin.

Who are we?
We are the UW-Madison Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society sponsored by the Department of Wildlife Ecology.  Our membership is comprised of undergraduate and graduate students who are interest in the wildlife science, management and conservation.  Most of our members are wildlife ecology majors, however, we welcome anybody who is interested in wildlife.

What can we offer you?
As a member of the UW-Madison Student Chapter, you will associate with faculty and other wildlife professionals as well as fellow wildlife science students.  Through bimonthly meetings, long-term field projects, and other functions you will become familiar with wildlife management techniques, become more aware of local, national, and international resource issues, and gain valuable experience and friendships that will serve you well as a wildlife professional.  The people you meet through student chapter activities can provide you with information on career prospects.

Goals:

  • To encourage interactions among faculty, undergraduates, and graduate students interested in wildlife sciences and conservation at the University of Wisconsin-Madison
  • To supplement the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom with practical, hands-on field experience
  • To inform members of current issues in the field of wildlife ecology
  • To educate and notify members of career opportunities.
  • To nurture and recognize leadership
  • To foster stewardship of the land and its wildlife resources
  • To support environmental legislation

Who is our parent organization?
