Who is eligible to run for a student chapter office?
Any student chapter member who is also a member of the TWS.
*Note:  Membership in the student chapter and the society means you have paid your dues to the UW-Madison Student Chapter and to The Wildlife Society.

Who is eligible to be on the Nomination Committee?
Any student chapter member who will not run for an office.  We will ask for three volunteers at the meeting on March 23.

What are the responsibilities of Nomination Committee?
They must compile a list of chapter members who wish to run for an office and announce those people at the April 9 TWS meeting.

How do members get on the list of nominees?
They should contact (via email, phone, or in person) any member of the Nomination Committee between March 26 and April 8 and request that there name be put on the list of nominees.  *Note:  Names may not be added to the list the same day the candidates are announced (April 9).

How will we run the elections?
Elections will be held at the beginning of the April 23 meeting.  Each person running for president will give a brief explanation of why they want to be an officer.  Then we will vote.  The presidents vote will be held separate and opened only if their is a tie.  If there are more than 2 people running, we will eliminate the person with the lowest votes and revote until there are only 2 people left.  The person with the most votes wins.  The president will announce the winner but will not reveal the number of votes received.  If any losers wish to run for a lower position, they may be added to the ballot.  The process will be repeated for vice president, secretary, and treasurer, in that order.  Voting booklets will be provided to each chapter member to prevent voting more than once.  Only members who paid their dues before election day are allowed to vote.

February 26:
Encourage student chapter members to become society members.  Craven will describe benefits.  More application forms will be available.

March 26:
Explain responsibilities and qualifications for positions

Appoint (3) chapter members to the Nomination Committee

April 9:
Nomination Committee announces chapter members running for offices of president, vice president, secretary, treasurer

April 23:
ELECTIONS!!! 

PRESIDENT

1. Oversee general organization of the chapter
2. Run general chapter meetings
3. Write agenda (with the help of other officers)
4. Send emails:  general announcements, reminders of upcoming events, job announcements
5. Organize speakers and activities (with help from other officers)
6. Prepare budget with vice president, secretary, and treasurer
7. Submit annual activity report to TWS National Chapter
8. Represent the Student Chapter at meetings of the Wisconsin Chapter and the North Central Section when necessary
9. Appoint chairs for all committees
10. Act as ex-officio member of all committees
11. Keep faculty advisor informed of activities, needs, problems, etc.
12. Maintain files of chapter activities in conjunction with faculty advisor

VICE PRESIDENT

1. Run meetings in absence of president
2. Organize all aspects of T-shirt sale
3. Prepare budget with president, secretary, and treasurer
4. Other duties as requested by the president

SECRETARY

1. Take notes at general chapter meetings
2. Type notes into minutes which are posted on the chapter bulletin board, sent over email, and filed in chapter
    binder (kept in room 205)
3. Write annual reports for TWS National Chapter
4. Maintain all files and membership roster
5. Report election results to TWS National Chapter
6. Prepare budget with president, vice president, and treasurer

TREASURER

1. Keep records, file all bank statements, and balance check book
2. Monitor funds available in departmental accounts
3. Submit calendar year financial  statement to TWS National Chapter and faculty advisor in January of each year
4. Prepare budget with president, vice president, and secretary
5. Write checks as needed and approved

ALL OFFICERS

1. Keep the Undergraduate Reading Room (rm. 205) in order, keep track of office supplies, etc.
2. Make sure progress is being made within committees for the game dinner, T-shirt sale, film festival
3. Keep current with chapter special projects (i.e. Project Salamander and the Underwood Prairie Project)
