THE WILDLIFE SOCIETY
“Excellence in Wildlife Stewardship through Science and Education
The Wildlife Society is an international, nonprofit, scientific and educational organization comprised of professionals serving the resource management fields, especially wildlife ecology and management.  Founded in 1937 and based in Bethesda, Maryland, The Wildlife Society has more than 8,900 members from 70 countries.

 Objectives of The Wildlife Society:

The Wildlife Society’s members are individuals dedicated to advance these objectives.  They accept the responsibility of maintaining and enhancing wildlife as an integral part of the human environment.

The Wildlife Society is organized into seven geographical sections in North America, with more than 50 regular and 60 student chapters, four conclaves and 25 committees.  The Wildlife Society’s principle governing body is a council comprised of elected officers and representatives from each of the seven sections.  Chapter and section members establish objectives and bylaws, elect officers, set-up committees, and determine dues as well as implement Society objectives at local, state and regional level.

Student chapters of The Wildlife Society are located at colleges and universities that offer curricula in wildlife science.  Should you choose wildlife science as your vocational objective, you will want to affiliate with a student chapter at the outset of your college training and with The Wildlife Society by your junior year.  Membership dues are nominal, particularity when considered in light of the many benefits gained by chapter and Society participation.
