UNDERGRADUATE & GRADUATE AWARDS

The Department of Wildlife Ecology administers and recommends awards for excellent undergraduate and graduate scholarship. Students who wish to be candidates for these awards should be alert to Departmental announcements posted and via email. A partial list of these awards includes:

Terry Amundsen Scholarship from John M. Keener chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society
- $500 (2 awards)
- awarded once per academic year to a graduate student in Wildlife Ecology

Ferdinand Plaenert New Freshman Excellence
- $1000

Irving W. Gerhardt Academic Excellence
- $1000

Gulsteen Research Award
- $2000
- awarded to graduate students working in agricultural systems
- all departments in CALS compete
- awarded once per academic year

Aldo Leopold Scholarship
- $1500
- awarded to a graduate student from either Wildlife Ecology, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or Forest Ecology and Management
- awarded once per academic year

Helen MacDonald Award
- $1000
- awarded once per academic year

Robert McCabe Student Academic Excellence
- $1000 (4 awards)
- awarded every semester

Netzer-Brouchard Scholarship
- $750
- awarded once per academic year

John A. Spurell Scholarship
- $1000
- rotates between Animal Science and Wildlife Ecology
- awarded to a graduate or undergraduate student every other year

Vicky Lee Hirsh Endowment for Conservation
- $2000
